I had one of the most interesting weekend in a long time…and I can’t tell most of the details.
What I can tell.
I received an email. Your are cordially invited to a VIP black tie Underground party.
Your ticket is fully paid. Bring a picture ID as the guest list is name with id only admission. Be prepared to climb a 10 ft ladder. If you are physically unable to do so please let us know so we can give your invite to someone on the waiting list. The ladder is the only entrance. The party is at (*********) cocktails, hors d’œuvres and entertainment will be available.
I wore a black Cocktail dress with a satin ribbon similar to Time Less vintage Vixen‘s but with out the hip sash.
I put on a pair of suede Portuguese shoes with one inch heels, perfect for dancing and apparently 10 foot ladders.
When I get to the address given to me there is a limo driver, or a man dressed like a limo driver. He asks me to wait along with a couple. After his replacement comes he takes the three of us to check in. ID’s checked, names crossed off. We are taken to a ****** and there is a old coat room that hasn’t been used since prohibition. We are asked to check our coats and phones. Phones will not work where we are going. Then we are taken to a ***** and asked to climb down a 10 ft ladder.
Once down the ladder I can see a normally abandon **** had been transformed into a mini club. Venetian Chandlers, in light pink and blue have been hung along the ceiling along with tiny white lights that look like twinkling stars.
Their is a DJ, full bar and wait staff with trays of food and drinks walking around. Almost immediately I am handed a glass of champagne. I had barely finished my glass and walked around when a handsome tuxedo-ed man asked me to dance.
The night was much like that. Drink, dance, drink, dance and of course food.
I had my first Creme Brulee Martini
I also had my first Raspberry Bellini
All the food was delicious, except the sardine pate. I can’t say it was bad because I didn’t try it. Really Sardines? Yes I prejudged.
They were all served on spoons similar to the photo.
The range was amazing from cheese stuffed fig puffs to mini angus beef burgers.
Before dessert the DJ took a break and the entertainment got wild. Juggling, sword swallowing and Fire Breathing from the famous ******. That’s were it got interesting. I started a conversation with the fire breather when the DJ started playing again. I told her my wish of learning how to fire breath. It has been on my bucket list since I was 16 or 17. She asked me if I wanted to try…my heart skipped a beat. Of course.
First she asked me to unzip my dress so she could check to see if the material was flammable. I had visions of fire breathing in my underwear, there was no way a dress was going to stop me now. It black cocktail dress was not flammable so I was able to stay dressed. She asked me to tie my hair. Told me to lean forward and spray. Ok spitting spray. She handled the fire. The first spray was not lit but the second attempt. FIRE BLAST!!!!
Ok I understand it was a very limited fire breathing but with no training, I think is was pretty damn cool.
Dessert was a haze. I was high off of the fire and all smiles.
Chocolate cups filled with a variety of mouth watering sweets including tiramisu, custards, coconut with strawberries, black forest, berries and whipped cream made their rounds. There were also mini cakes
As I left it started to rain really hard but a dash to the car and I barely got wet. It was a wonderful evening.
She hadn’t planned on leaving but life had a different idea. Letters were sent to the new world. Soon she found herself on a ship, in her best clothes with only a few precious items. Her voyage was long and had many dangers. There were new and wondrous things to see. Finally reached her new home. She discovered surprises can bring great joy and even new love. Her adventure just began.

The American Indian Museum at 1 Bowling Green it is in the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Customs House
The building was built from 1902–1907. It is stunning. I went for the lecture on Taino Indians, which was canceled. I decided to stay for the Horse Nation exhibit.
The sky light in the rotunda is amazing. That’s where the American Historical Tours met, they kindly invited me to tag along. They had just completed a tour of the building and were heading in to the horse exhibit.
Framing the skylight is oil paintings of ships, liners, and people entering and leaving New York Cities ports.
This is the coat room, an stunning crystal chandelier and painting of the desert camels and all!
