Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote the poem “Dead Rose”

O Rose! who dares to name thee?
No longer roseate now, nor soft, nor sweet;
But pale, and hard, and dry, as stubble-wheat, -
Kept seven years in a drawer-thy titles shame thee.

Here in this pin is a wilting rose, not quite dead but loved and held close.

a 20 and 24 inch double strand faux pearl necklace with a glass cameo clasp. The necklace unclasps to leave the glass cameo as a stand alone pin. The pin itself has a German made glass cameo surrounded by small rhinestones

This double strand of pearls came to me in a Majorica case. I do not see any marks clasp or pin. Because of that I do not feel comfortable calling them Majorica pearls. I will however pass along the case to whoever wants to add this to their collection. This is a quality strand.

Size: 24in long

Ribbons have been a symbol of love since the beginning of ribbons. Gifts of tokens of love. Given to women from men and taken out of their hair and given to men. Tied to locks of hair as love tokens. In 1917 ribbons and the military was tied together in song. “Around her Neck she wore a yellow ribbon” In the 40′s during WW2 the song made a comeback with a much different beat of course. The Military even sang it as a cadence.

In the 1970′s “Tie a yellow ribbon”

became a hit and later a symbol for American hostages held in Iran.

Since then Remember Ribbons have turned into Awareness ribbons for various causes. Isn’t it good to remember it all started with love.
