Bio

As a child I collected Jewelry in a suitcase, gathered from my Great Uncle recycling business. It wasn’t so much a business as a need to save, collect and reuse. He survived the depression and was the first environmental conservative I knew.

I picked up all the jewelry I could lay my hands on as I shifted through the things he “rescued”, even stones and scraps didn’t escape my eye.

I never understood why people would throw out these miniature works of art.

Later I worked selling vintage and sterling jewelry on the streets of NY. Some of my customers included Actors, Actress’ and Costume designers from soap operas, NBC, CBS and Broadway Productions (and off Broadway, and off off Broadway and where the hell is that?)

I’ve owned an antique and jewelry shop in Forest Hills. Lovely renamed “the magic shop” by customers who found treasures to take home.

Recently I decided to begin again with a new focus on making and designing my own indie pieces.

The jewelry you see on this site are new, hand made, vintage, a mixture of wonderful items collected and made

In Handmade Indie you will see jewelry that is sculpted, wax carved, hand forged, any process that creates into reality the pieces I envision daily.

In the vintage sections  you will see a collection gathered from all over the world. Just love vintage items.

Bliss St is Eco Friendly
I use reclaimed vintage components in many of our designs. We make an effort to also used reclaimed silver and reduce the use of chemicals in the jewelry making process. Instead our designs are created using as much natural and renewable resources as possible.

If I use vintage components that are currently endangered a donation is made to conservation charity. For example if I have vintage strands of coral. I take the single pieces of coral and make Reliquaries. A portion of each sale goes to saving today’s coral reefs. I never use new coral, new ivory or new fur in my pieces. I also avoid new plastics in my jewelry pieces. For my Lace Locks the plastic used is recycled and can be recycled in the future.

Jewelry is boxed in two ways either in keepsake boxes that we hope you keep or in boxes made from recycled paper.

We are not vegan.
